About Lexus Gearboxes

Lexus are renowned for their self-shifting gearboxes, particularly since the introduction of Lexus Hybrid Drive and its associated Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT). The only Lexus with a manual transmission was the IS Saloon, that came with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Later Lexus innovations include the Multi Stage Hybrid drive system that combines a hybrid powertrain with a V6 petrol engine and 4 speed automatic gearbox, offering the first ‘M’ transmission mode for Lexus on a full hybrid vehicle.
