Exhaust Down Pipe Replacement

The exhaust down pipe's job is to provide air flow for the gases that are produced by the car and often this pipe is used instead of a catalytic converter. If a catalytic converter is present then the down pipe is situated just before it. What happens is that as the exhaust gases are forced into the exhaust pipe, they then pass through the header pipes and then go on to pass through the down pipe. From there if a catalytic converter is fitted it will pass through that, and if not will pass through the exhaust pipe itself. It is not always thought that a down pipe with a large diameter is a good thing; this is because it may cause problems such as a loss of force. What this also ultimately means is that as the pipe is low to the ground, a larger pipe will be more likely to be damaged as it passes over rough ground.
