About Rover Engines
Rover was a main player in the manufacture of British vehicles from its inception in 1986 and throughout its history produced a number of reliable engines. The L-series engine dates back to 1994 and was the first Rover designed direct-injection diesel, it was fitted in the Rover 200 Mk3, 400 Mk2 and 600 models. In 1999 the inline 4-cylinder M-series engine was also installed in the Rover 200 before being replaced by the T-series. The last mass-produced Rover V8 engine was made in 2004, after 37 years of production and was seen in the Rover SD1. One of the largest Rover engines could be found on the popular ‘hot-hatch’, the Rover 25 MG ZR, with 160 PS and a top speed of 130mph.
