About Chrysler Cars

Chrysler, now part of the General Motors family has had a long established history of making great American cars. Some of their now iconic models have been featured in films, literature, and advertisements. These dependable cars give their owners a reliable car that also has exceptional power and beauty. The work staff who continue to make these cars are upholding a tradition that started at the turn of the century.

It was founded in the Detroit area in the 1920s. After World War I, the company acquired Dodge at time was known for its service vehicles for the army. It then continued to make progress in the automotive sales market after World War II by providing the public with reliable cars that the army had during wartime.

In the past 40 years, the economy of the United States has fluctuated, causing Chrysler to ask for help from the government to remain in production. Those loans that were negotiated in the 1970s were dutifully paid off by the early 1980s. In 1987, the car company bought and merged with American Motors, which resulted in a major restructuring of the company. By the 1990s, Chrysler was now manufacturing some of the most popular models in the automotive market.

The recession made it difficult for most American car companies to operate business as usual. This created many layoffs at large manufacturing facilities with the popularity of American cars taking a major dive in the market. In 2009 Chrysler merged with General Motors creating a conglomerate of American popular brands that were now seeking assistance from the government just like they had done back in the 70s. Although Congress rejected the company's original bid, a renegotiation with also acquiring Fiat tipped the scales in their favour.

Today, the Chrysler car company remains a very popular brand despite recent highs and lows in the American economy. Although it has been managed by a variety of owners in the past, it stands out in American culture and on their great American highways.
