Distributor Replacement

The distributor as its name suggests, distributes voltage from the ignition coil to the car's cylinder spark plugs and is situated within your car's engine. This is done via the cap and rotor as the coil is connected to the rotor that spins inside the distributor. The rotor spins past several contacts and as it does so a high-voltage is emitted from the coil, which then passes along the gap between the rotor and contact point. This high voltage then continues to be passed down to the spark-plug wire and on to the actual spark plug on the cylinder. The ignition system distributor is an extremely important part of your car's engine. Due to its complexity and involvement with other parts within the engine it can be the cause of multiple engine problems if your car is not serviced regularly.
