The headlamp is the main light of the car. It is directed towards the road, to make driving in the dark or in poorer light conditions much safer. Every car must have headlamps as a legal requirement. If planning to travel at night, it is important to test the lights to make sure none of the bulbs have blown. It is good road etiquette that if driving on a dark road and using the high beam, at the first sign of an oncoming vehicle, change back to the low beam, as the high beam can dazzle the driver heading in the opposite direction.
